Monday &amp; Thursday 6.45pm \u2013 8.30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a scout you may have the opportunity to go Abseiling, Kayaking, Shooting, Camping, Skiing, 4WD, Tramping, Sailing, Fishing, cooking on fires, attend NZ and Overseas Jamboree&#8217;s and many more activities. Scouts also have the opportunity to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/stheliersglendowiescouts.org\/index.php\/venturers#national-schools\">Scouts Aotearoa National Schools<\/a> &#8211; programmes held during the school holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scouts are organised into Patrols. Patrols are encouraged to plan &amp; organise their own activities in order to develop teamwork and self-reliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are opportunities for Scouts to experience leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A progressive award scheme enables Scouts to learn a range of new skills through working on personal challenges and group activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meetings are usually held one evening a week and last for about 2 hours, as well as occasional weekends for major activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The movement to another section (or programme) will occur as a result of discussion between the Scout, their parents\/caregivers and the Adult Leaders concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Scout Section objectives are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Satisfy personal relationships<br>* Develop a sense of group achievement<br>* Participate in Patrol selected activities<br>* Participate in individual hobbies and interests and so promote:<br>   * Health &amp; fitness<br>   * Knowledge &amp; experience in the local &amp; wider community<br>   * Appreciation of and experience in the Outdoors<br>   * Opportunities for &amp; training in community service<br>   * Cultural awareness and family involvement<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scouts For 11-14 years old.
