About Us

The Boy Scout movement in New Zealand began in 1908, the same year in which General (later, Lord) Baden-Powell launched the movement in the United Kingdom.

The St Heliers/Glendowie Scout Troop started soon after in 1912.

Guyon Brookfield was one of the first Scout Masters.  His contribution is recognised at the Brookfield memorial (next to the flag pole at the start of St Helliers Bay Road).

Rumour has it that our scarves are based on the green fields of Glendowie and the yellow beach of St Heliers.

Our badge depicts Rangitoto in the background as that is our view from St Heliers with pohutukawa fringing the shore.
