Today we held celebrations for our 111th anniversary and official opening of our historic flagpole along with holding our Group night.
The evening was filled with outdoor games, a wonderful BBQ cooked by our Venturers, raising our flags on our newly refurbished flagpole, a short ceremony and plenty of celebration. We were fortunate to have members of our Akarana Zone and Orakei Board (who were a big part of getting our flagpole refurbished) in attendance.
Our flagpole has been in its current location since 1959 but dates back over 100 years, originally standing in front of Sir Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland’s home in Kohimarama.
All the youth members in attendance received a very special blanket badge to mark the occasion.
